Register for Camp Yofi
Making new friends, meeting other families with
special needs, building Jewish community and enjoying
blobbing, boating, swimming, climbing, arts and crafts,
sports and all the pleasures of summer
camp at Camp Ramah
Darom are the key to the
Camp Yofi experience.
Camp Yofi is a unique
program for Jewish
families with children
with autism between
the ages of six and
twelve. Single parents,
grandparents, and
siblings are invited to attend
and all Jewish families are
welcome, regardless of denomination or synagogue
affiliation. The program is held on the 122-acre
campus of Camp Ramah Darom, which is located
13 miles outside the center of Clayton, GA and
adjoins the beautiful Chattahoochee National Forest.
Morning programs at Camp Yofi are designed with
separate tracks for 1) children with autism, 2) their
siblings, and 3) parents. Afternoons are devoted to
a variety of programs throughout the camp for the
entire family. In the evenings, the camp community
joins together for bonfires, sing-alongs, s’mores and
other family programs. After the children are in bed,
and under the watchful care of our staff, adults have
the opportunity to get together for fun programs,
study and support.
Every family at Camp Yofi has a chaver – a special
friend – who spends mornings and evenings with
the same family throughout the week, providing a
consistent, comforting and helpful presence.
Registration
The 5-day, 4-night program begins
on Wednesday afternoon, August 11th, and ends on Sunday
morning, August 15th. Participation in Camp Yofi is limited
to 25 families and registrations are accepted on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Families wishing to participate must complete the online
registration form (link below) and submit it
along with your full payment (see below for refunds policy).
Upon receipt of your registration form and your
deposit, we will acknowledge your registration and
send you additional forms requesting information on
your children. The information requested will be used
to train the staff and the family chaver that will be
working with each of your children, and to plan
strategies based on knowledge of what has proved
effective in working with your children in other
programs and environments. Your cooperation in
thoroughly completing these forms will help us to
ensure the most positive experience for your family.
Tuition
With the generosity of sponsoring foundations and
individual donors our goal has been, and remains, to
make the program affordable to any family wishing to
participate. Tuition for the program is $750 per family,
which covers 25% of the $3,000 cost of the program.
The remaining cost is subsidized through
grants and donations. A limited number of scholarships
are available for those families needing additional
assistance to participate in the program.
As the tuition only covers a portion of the cost
of Camp we ask you to consider a tax-deductible
donation to support the actual cost of this and future
programs. While this donation is not required, your
support and assistance will help us to continue
operating Camp Yofi and to make it accessible for
any family, irrespective of financial circumstances.
Every donation makes a difference.
Payment and Refunds
No application will be accepted without a payment.
With the exception of medical emergencies, there will be
no refund of tuition for withdrawals made after June 15, 2010.
