Our Gesher Leadership Development Institute (LDI) is offered to students entering 11th grade and is our final eida (unit).
In the program, Gesher campers gain leadership skills that they can apply not just to their future role as Ramah Darom staff members, but to their personal and professional lives.
The Gesher LDI helps campers grow as community change-agents, political advocates and leaders through the experience of the program. The Counselors-In-Training (CIT) program gives Gesher LDI participants the chance to form relationships with younger campers and exposes them to a variety of aspects of camp life, preparing them to serve as staff members in the future. Gesher LDI participants also have the opportunity to participate in the fun activities that make our camp so special.
The program includes a 10-day bus trip along the East Coast. Along the way, the group tours several cities, including Philadelphia, PA, and Washington, DC, and makes several stops, including Camp Ramah in the Poconos, where the group spends one Shabbat. On the trip, participants also will have a unique opportunity to visit several college campuses and meet with Hillel International professionals who help them think critically about their college choices. In Washington DC, Gesher LDI participants learn from representatives at AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) and then put what they learned into practice by lobbying on behalf of Israel in meetings with legislators and legislative aides on Capitol Hill.
Gesher participants also enjoy an outdoor adventure challenge excursion. The trips enable campers to solidify the friendships they’ve made and have one of their best summers yet.
